Abstract
1,133,441. Pulse modulation circuits. THORN AUTOMATION Ltd. 17 Nov., 1965 [17 Aug., 1964], No. 33536/64. Heading H4L. [Also in Division G3] The square wave output of a circuit 21 is applied to a transistor TR26 so that the collector connected terminal of a capacitor C is maintained at zero potential during the positive half cycle of the square wave. During each negative half cycle of the square wave the transistor TR26 is cut off and the capacitor C charged, through a resistor 30, to a potential dependent on the bias voltage from a stabilizing circuit 27. The capacitor discharges through a resistor R and after a time interval, approximately proportional to the bias voltage, applies a positive potential to a transistor TR27. The negativegoing signal from the transistor TR27 initiates the generation of a pulse from the pulse former 24. The arrangement is used in a template following system, see Division G3, wherein the output from the pulse former 24 is applied to vary the phase of control signals applied to phasesensitive rectifiers in dependence on the deflection of a tracer so that the movement of a tracer-head is at right angles to the feeler deflection.
