Abstract

1,133,431. Radiation source container. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 7 Jan., 1966 [12 Jan., 1965], No. 840/66. Heading H5R. A manually portable irradiation device has a housing comprising a first part 11 which supports a source of radiation 14 and a second part 12 which supports a counterweight 22. The two parts are pivotally connected at 10 for movement between a closed carrying position, see Fig. 1, not shown, and an open position (as shown) in which the second part, loaded by the counterweight 22 is capable of supporting the first part 11 in an irradiating position. The counterweight 22 serves as a carrying handle for the device in a closed position. Preferably, the distance between pivot 10 and counterweight 22 is greater than the distance between pivot 10 and extremity 18 of the first part. The radiation source may emit U.V. light.
