Abstract
1,133,367. Light controlling devices. FENBRIDGE PRODUCTS Ltd. 24 Aug., 1967 [31 Aug., 1966], No. 38772/66. Heading F4R. [Also in Division G2] An optical device, mainly intended for controlling the light from lighting fittings, consists of a transparent or translucent sheet of flexible material maintained in omni-directional tension in a frame and having a prismatic or lenticular formation on one surface. For use in a fitting having several fluorescent discharge tubes arranged parallel to one another, the pattern may consist of cylindrical Fresnel lenses, as in Fig. 2. Alternatively, a pattern of totally reflecting pyramids may be used to form a reflecting surface. The sheet is preferably of plastics and is secured in a frame, heated and allowed to cool so as to produce the tension. Alternatively, a material which shrinks on heating may be used. The tension can also be produced by spring clips, magnets or elastic webs.
