Abstract

1,131,997. Mechanical hair brushes. RONSON CORP. 26 June, 1967 [30 June, 1966], No. 29463/67. Heading A4K. In a power driven rotary hair brush, in which bristles 42 are guided for extension and retraction by a scotch yoke mechanism 46, as drum (12), 80 is rotated about stationary eccentrically mounted shaft 50, the bristles extend through circumferentially elongated slots 52, so that they can bend to free themselves when caught in the hair. The drum is rotated by a motor in the brush handle and the brush bars 44 are guided in radial slots (48) in the end plates (22, 24) of the drum. A shortened form of bristle 42 is preferably used, to avoid entanglement with the hair, by ensuring that its tip, in the retracted position, lies well below the outer surface of the drum.
