Abstract
1,131,867. Coated glass or ceramic objects. FERRO CORP. 15 Aug., 1967 [18 Jan., 1967], No. 37388/67. Heading B2K [Also in Division C3] Ceramic or glass objects are coated with a hot melt adhesive which comprises: 15-63% by wt. of a thermosetting acrylic resin, containing acid groups or groups derived therefrom which react with epoxy groups, 8-45% of an epoxy resin; and 20-65% of an organic solvent having m.p. 120-200‹F and b.p. <600‹F (e.g. biphenyl or naphthalene). The composition may also contain 0.2% by wt. of an acid inhibitor, e.g. phosphoric acid, and from 0.4% by wt. of a flow control agent, e.g. a mixture of a silicone oil and colloidal silica. Conventional fillers and pigments may be present. After coating the composition is cured at a temperature high enough to volatise the solvent.
