Abstract
1,131,623. Laminated building board. GRUNZWEIG & HARTMANN A.G. 26 Jan., 1966 [27 Jan., 1965], No. 3433/66. Heading B5N. A sound insulating and heat insulating building board of bonded mineral fibres has the following features in combination: (a) degree of porosity at least 70%; (b) specific sound wave resistance 50-250 Rayl./cm.; (c) unit weight at least 200 kg/m.<SP>3</SP>; (d) tensile strength at least 20 kp/cm.<SP>2</SP>; (e) flexural strength at least 20 kp/cm.<SP>2</SP>; (f) compressibility not exceeding 15% at a load of 4 kp/cm.<SP>2</SP>; and the provision of a covering layer impermeable to air applied on one side. The binder for the mineral fibres may be phenol-, melamine-, or urea-formaldehyde resin up to 8% by weight of the weight of the board and may contain flame-retardant substances e.g. ammonium, boron, halogen, phosphate or nitrogen compounds or mixtures of the same, such as ammonium phosphate or dicyanodiamide. The covering layer is preferably a viscoelastic thermoplastic layer of a polyolefine, a polyacrylic ester, polyvinyl chloride or polystyrene, and may contain a filler such as metal powder, mineral powder and/or graphite. The board preferably has a thermal conductivity less than 0À05 kcal/m/h/‹C. In one example given the board contains 5% by weight of binder and is compressed to a unit weight of 400 kg/m.<SP>3</SP>, it has degree of porosity 88%, specific sound wave resistance 210 Rayl/cm., tensile strength 43 kp/cm.<SP>2</SP>, flexural strength 72 kp/cm.<SP>2</SP>, compressibility at a load of 4 kp/cm.<SP>2</SP> 10À5% and thermal conductivity 0À042 kcal/ m/h/‹ C. The board may have a covering layer on each side, one layer being provided with perforations or made with open pores if desired.
