Abstract

1,130,862. Rolling; straightening. SIEMAG SIEGENER MASCHINENBAU G.m.b.H. 17 Nov., 1965 [20 Nov., 1964], No. 48809/65. Headings B3E and B3M. A device for shifting rolled stock 2, Figs. 1 and 2, from a feed-roller table 1 to a cooling bank 4, or for straightening the stock, comprises levers 5 pivotable about horizontal pivots 6, the latter being mounted for horizontal displacement in stationary guides 7. The levers 5 are moved in their guides 7 towards or away from bank 4 by actuators 8, which pivot levers 9, and rods 10 connected to the levers, and also to pivots 6. The levers 5 are pivoted by actuators 11 which are connected to bell crank levers 12, the levers being connected to thrust and pull rods 14 secured to levers 5. The bars 2 are conveyed over the cooling bank 4 by walking beams 4b which are actuated by a beam raising drive 15, 16 and a beam step-by-step drive 17. The bars 2 are transferred from bank 4 to a delivery roller table 19 by a second shifting device, similar to the device for loading the bars on to the bank. A bar 2 is carried along roller table 1 in the horizontal position until it engages a stop 3. Levers 5 are moved in guides 7 towards bank 4, and simultaneously pivoted so that the bars 2 are deposited on to bank 4 in the on edge position. Several groups of levers 5 may be provided with separate drives 8, and the latter may be operated in phase-displaced relationship to each other. Bars 2 can be preliminary straightened prior to entering a straightening machine, by locking selected levers 5, Fig. 7, on one side of the bar, and actuating the other levers to act on the other side of the bar. A separate drive 8 may be provided for each of the levers 9, the device may be used with a skid, using drag fingers or inclined rollers, instead of a walking beam cooling bank, and the reciprocating actuators for moving the levers 5, 9 may be replaced by cam drives.
