Abstract

1,127,189. Weather strips. STANDARD PRODUCTS CO. 4 July, 1966, No. 30006/66. Heading E1J. A weather strip assembly comprises a weather-strip member 1 with a backing portion 2 and a body portion 3 of pile fibres to engage with an associated structure the backing 2 having portions 8 and a barrier structure 7 with a base portion 11 to retainably receive the backing 2 with inturned walls 13 overlying the portions 8, the barrier structure 7 having upwardly-extending shields 9, 10 extending from the walls 13. A channel-shaped member 14, e.g. of aluminium, preferably contains the base portion 11 and the backing 2 and has inturned walls 15, 16 to overlie the walls 13. The barrier 7 is of flexible form-retaining resin material. In a modification the backing 2 has a coating of polyester resin and the portions 13 are not joined by a base portion but are adhesively secured to the backing 2. A further modification comprises an elongated one-piece barrier structure, having two shields, of formretaining resin film with a base the edge portions of which are overlaid by inturned edge flanges and a backing portion formed by a layer of adhesive whereby a body of pile fibres is secured to the base between inturned edge walls.
