1,126,690. Dyeing wool, silk and/or polyamides. FARBENFABRIKEN BAYER A.G. 25 Nov., 1965 [28 Nov., 1964], No. 50145/65. Addition to 1,000,054. Heading D1B. Fibres of wool, silk and/or synthetic polyamides are coloured by continuously applying an acidified aqueous emulsion of dyes suitable for said fibres and, as auxiliaries, (a) carboxylic acids or their salts having at least one N atom and a hydrocarbon radical with at least 8 C atoms attached via -CO- or -SO 2 - to a N atom as well as (b) an ester of a carboxylic acid having at least 12 C atoms the carbon chain of which may be interrupted by hetero atoms, e.g. N, whereupon the fibres are continuously subjected to heat in a steam atmosphere. The esters (b) may be formed from aliphatic, cycloaliphatic or araliphatic alcohols and suitable aliphatic acids including N-oleoyl- N-methyl-amino-acetic acid or N-lauroyl-N- ethyl-amino-propionic acid. The emulsions may have a pH of 3-5 and may contain a thickener, e.g. etherified carob bean flour. The emulsions may also contain organic solvents which are benzyl alcohol, γ-phenyl-propanol and cyclohexanol. Examples are given.
