Roller-blinds.-The weight of the blind J and lath H is counterbalanced by the weight G, Fig. 1, on the operating-cord F wound on the pulley E. The increasing weight of the blind as it unrolls is compensated by the increasing leverage at which the weight acts when cord accumulates on the pulley. In the modification shown in Fig. 2, the end of the cord is fixed at 0, and the weight M is supported on it by a pulley L. In this case, the weight is doubled, but it traverses half the distance. The weight may be in the form of a tassel G, or it 'may have a handle N. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specifications 16458/98 and 3380/02.
