Abstract

1,125,926. Casein adhesive. BORDEN CO. 13 July, 1966, No. 31540/66. Headings C3H and C3U. [Also in Division C4] A casein adhesive for labelling glass and plastic bottles comprises water, casein, a solubilizing agent for casein, and an amount, less than that of the casein, of a water-soluble gum comprising gum tragacanth, gum karaya, Irish moss or mixtures thereof. The solubilizer may be urea or ammonium hydroxide; other ingredients may include zinc acetate, zinc oxide, soyabean alpha-protein, ammonium thiocyanate and phenol. The preferred amount of gum is 0À25 to 12 parts per 100 parts of casein.
