Abstract

1,125,341. Heating and cooling liquids in bulk; heat exchange elements. DEAN PRODUCTS Inc. 13 May, 1966, No. 21469/66. Heading F4S. A resilient heat exchange plate to be tensioned about a container 10 comprises a pair of superimposed metal sheets 2, 3, the outer one, 3, of which is embossed as at 4 to form a plurality of parallel longitudinal ducts which are terminated near the ends 8, 9 of the plate by transverse ducts acting as headers. Inlet and outlet connections (5, 6), (Fig. 2, not shown), are made to two extreme longitudinal ducts. The plate, on being placed in position around the container, is then clamped tightly around the latter by means of a toggle-latch 11. On release of the latch the plate springs loose, thereby facilitating easy removal of the same. The strap-like exchange plate may be preshaped to conform to the contours of various containers and can be applied equally well to the inside of a container, in which case the latch 11 is used to expand the plate.
