Abstract
1,124,882. Aerating turf. 'SISIS' EQUIPMENT (MACCLESFIELD) Ltd. 21 March, 1967 [2 March, 1966], No. 9198/66. Heading A1B. A turf aerator comprises U-shaped members 24 removably fitted to a frame 20, the ends 23 being formed to detach, support, and lift out part of the soil when the tool is inserted into the soil and then withdrawn. As shown the ends of the members 24 are twisted into helical formation. In a modification the members may be formed from flat bars with notched or serrated edges or tongues may be cut or bent to project out of the plane of the bars. In a further modification the ends may be shaped like a plurality of pyramid or conical parts with their smaller end directed to the entry end of the tine.
