Abstract

Compounds of formula <FORM:1124682/C2/1> or salts thereof wherein rings A and B may be substituted or unsubstituted, m is 0 or 1, R1 is H or CH3, X is cyano, esterified carboxyl or carbamoyl and -N.R2.R3 is the radical obtained by removal of H from a secondary amine of formula H.N.R2.R3, which are prepared by reduction of an enamine of formula <FORM:1124682/C2/2> or of formula <FORM:1124682/C2/3> the enamines being prepared from a ketone of formula <FORM:1124682/C2/4> by reaction with the amine of formula HNR2R3 and then optionally isolated or reduced in situ and the ketone optionally being prepared either by reaction of a compound of formula <FORM:1124682/C2/5> where X1 is an ester, nitrile or tertiary amide group with a halo acetone ketal or by hydration of a compound of formula <FORM:1124682/C2/6> are optionally converted into ketones of formula <FORM:1124682/C2/7> by reaction with an alkyl magnesium halide.
