Abstract

1,124,548. Anchor. SHELL INTERNATIONALE RESEARCH MAATSCHAPPIJ N.V. 15 May, 1967, No. 22423/67. Heading B7S. An anchor comprises a curved plate 1 (Fig. 2 shows a rectangular plate 6; in Fig. 11, not shown, the plate is semi-elliptical) having in all planes parallel to the plane of symmetry (III-III in Fig. 2) a cross-section which is a substantially circular arc having its centre 10 (Fig. 3) on a straight line at right-angles to the plane of symmetry, and means 2 (7 in Fig. 3) secured to the plate at the plane of symmetry for connection to an anchor line 3. Sections at right-angles to the plane of symmetry may be straight (so that the plate is cylindrical), curved, or as shown in Fig. 7, so that the plate forms part of the surface of two cones with their common base lying in the plane of symmetry.
