Abstract
1,124,493. Photo-electric textile inspection. KYOTO KIKAI, K.K. Sept. 3, 1965 [May 28, 1965], No.37732/65. Heading G1A. Apparatus for detecting weft strains comprises a first photo-electric system generating pulses at a frequency equal to the number of wefts passing per unit time, and a second photo-electric system comprising a light source energized by the pulses and a receiver for images of the wefts formed by transmission of light through the textile which receiver includes means to scan the images with a photo-electric cell. Pulse generating system Fig. 6 (not shown). The first photo-electric system comprises a lamp 30 and condenser lens 31 directing light through the textile 1 and a receiver comprising a cylindrical lens 33 and a semi-cylindrical lens 35 with crossed axes, a circular aperture 36' and a photo-cell 37 which generates the series of pulses having substantially the same amplitude and shape regardless of the angle of the wefts. Weft strain detection system. Fig. 2. The pulses from the first photo-electric system energize the fluorescent lamp 8 of the second system. A condensing lens 11 forms a linear beam of light parallel to the normal weft direction of the textile 1. An image of the wefts is formed on the slit 15 by the lens 13 and is scanned by a disc 16 having a number of radial slits each backed by a photo-cell 22. The frequency of the output of the cells 22, which are connected in parallel, depends upon the angle the wefts make with the slit 15. The output is applied to circuitry which generates pulses of accurate amplitude and shape at the frequency of the output to give when smoothed a D.C. voltage indicative of the angle between the wefts and the slit 15. Weft bowing is detected by locating two such detection systems across the textile with their slits 15 making the same angle with the normal weft direction, Fig. 8 (not shown), and connecting their outputs in opposition. Skewed wefts are detected by two systems making opposite angles with the normal weft direction, Fig. 9 (not shown).
