Abstract

A thermoplastic plymeric composition comprises 1 to 99% by weight of a graft polymer A obtained by polymerization in aqueous emulsion of a mixture of vinyl monomers, a mixture of vinylidene monomers or a mixture of at least one vinyl and at least one vinylidene monomer on an aqueous latex of a synthetic or natural elastomer, and from 99 to 1% of graft polymer B formed by polymerization of a mixture of vinyl monomers, a mixture of vinylidene monomers or a mixture of at least one vinyl and at least one vinylidene monomer containing a synthetic or natural elastomer dissolved therein, the vinyl and/or vinylidene monomer being styrene, or one of its derivatives, acrylonitrile, or one of its derivatives, an alkyl acrylate or an alkyl methacrylate. In examples, graft polymer (c) is formed by polymerizing styrene and acrylonitrile in aqueous emulsion in the presence of polybutadiene, graft polymer (d) is produced by polymerizing styrene and alpha-methyl styrene containing polybutadiene dissolved therein, prior to further grafting of the polybutadiene with acrylonitrile in aqueous suspension and graft polymer (e) is formed by grafting styrene and acrylonitrile on to polybutadiene dissolved in these monomers. Polymer (c) is then blended with (d) or (e) and mineral wax, antioxidants, dyes and pigments.
