Abstract
1,124,263. Inverting. N. G. HINGORANI. 4 Nov., 1966 [5 Aug., 1965], No. 33477/65. Heading H2F. In order to ensure that the valves of an inverter are fired at the correct time despite variation in commutation voltage and output current, the commutating voltage is integrated from an instant which is the required extinction angle 8 after the commutating voltage passes through zero in a positive-negative direction and the integrator output is added to a second signal which is a function of the required minimum angle of advance. The resultant signal is fed to a level detector which produces a firing pulse when the resultant signal reaches zero, after which the integrator is clamped to zero ready for the next integration. Further signals may be added to the integrated signal to give larger angles of advance. Clamping of the integrator is effected by a monostable circuit which clamps the integrator to zero for a period 8 after the commutating voltage passes through zero.
