Abstract
1,123,972. Reactors. UNITED POWER CO. Ltd. 24 Aug., 1965 [8 Sept., 1964], No. 36760/64. Heading G6C. A gas cooled graphite moderated reactor, having a concrete pressure vessel 1, with lining 9, has its core 5, contained in a gas tight enclosure 13, which is apertured to allow the coolant to circulate. The graphite block core is supported on a grid 4 which also carries the enclosure 13. Heat exchangers 11, 12 are mounted above circulation pumps having outlets 25. Coolant flows through the pumps, outlets 25 into enclosure 13, upwards through the fuel channels in the core 5, charge tubes 14, outlets 15, and downwards through the heat exchangers to the pumps. The enclosure 13 is sealed to the lining 9 by flexible seals 19 and coolant gas flow into 13 also occurs through the apertures 26.
