Abstract

1,123,795. Panels. VAUXHALL MOTORS Ltd. and CHELLINGWORTH & SINGER Ltd. 27 Jan., 1966 [4 Feb., 1965], No. 4969/65. Heading A4M. [Also in Divisions B5 and B7] A vehicle roof lining 4 comprises a moulded foamed polyurethane core 5 reinforced by e.g., an embedded wire grid 7, and bonded to an inner polyvinylchloride layer 12. The reinforcement may alternatively comprise rods or strips of synthetic resinous material, not necessarily in a grid-like form, and may be attached to the concealed surface of the lining. The layer 12 may be vacuum-formed to the desired shape, or sprayed on to the preformed core, or sprayed into the mould before the polyurethane core is formed therein. The concealed surface of the core 5 has a honeycomb grid 11 formed thereon, and an abutment ledge 5a by which the lining is retained in position above the vehicle cantrail 3.
