Abstract

Refractory bodies comprise calcined fire-clay (chamotte) + 4-10 wt. % plastic clay bonded with a chemical binder. The binder may be either a mixture of (1) aluminium hydroxychloride, silica sol, water and hydrochloric acid or (2) aluminium hydroxychloride, water and orthophosphoric acid or an aqueous solution of aluminium orthophosphate.
