Abstract
1,122,767. Automatic phase control systems. TELEFUNKEN PATENTVERWERTUNGS G.m.b.H. 26 July, 1967 [11 Aug., 1966], No. 34417/67. Heading H3A. An automatic phase control system wherein a sweep generator 6 is initially coupled to control an oscillator 1 to bring it within the lock-in range of the control loop, is characterized in that the generator 6 is initially coupled through a switch 5 to the output of a phase discriminator 2 and control device 3 through one or more diodes 7. If the generator 6 starts at a low increasing voltage, the diode 7 conducts until the lock-in range is reached; at this point the output of the control device 3 rises suddenly to the required tuning voltage and reverse-biases the diode 7 which remains non-conducting until the output voltage of the generator 6 exceeds the tuning voltage by the voltage drop U D across the diode. This period of non-conduction of the diode allows time for a frequency-sensitive unit 4 to open the switch 5 and disconnect the sweep voltage. If the sweep operates in either direction a pair of parallel oppositely-poled diodes may be used. The value of U D may be increased by using a Zener diode or two oppositely poled Zener diodes in series.
