Abstract
1,122,668. Measuring position photoelectrically. SKODA OBOROVY PODNIK. Sept. 14, 1965 [Sept. 21, 1964], No. 39138/65. Heading G1A. A system for locating a machine includes a high speed motor for coarse control energized by a selsyn system and a low speed motor for fine control energized by a photo-electric system including a mirror mark on a target and a transparent prism having mirror surfaces co-operating with photo-electric transducers. A bridge circuit comprising a selsyn transmitting the actual position of the machine and a selsyn set in accordance with a desired position of the machine provides a coarse error signal which energizes a first motor to drive the machine through a high gear. When the error signal falls to a preset level, a second motor driving through a lower gear is brought into use together with a fine error signal derived from the photo-electric system. The photo-electric system comprises a mirror 28 carrying cross-hairs fixed in the desired position of the machine. Attached to the machine is a unit comprising a lamp 20 illuminating the mirror 28 via a semi-transparent mirror 22 and a prism 29. Prism 29 has faces 30 which reflect light from mirror 28 to photo-cells 31a 31b connected in a bridge circuit to provide the fine error signal. Observation of the position of the crosshairs on mirror 28 relative to cross-hairs on mirror 28 may be had via an eye-piece 26 or a television camera 27. Two more photo-cells 31c, 31d may be used in a similar system to locate the machine in another co-ordinate.
