Abstract

1,122,453. Luminescent coatings. PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd. 9 Feb., 1967 [12 Feb., 1966], No. 6271/67. Heading B2K. [Also in Division H1] In a method of preparing a luminescent screen on a picture surface of a substantially rectangular face plate 1, in particular of a color TV tube, a luminescent material suspension is applied to the picture surface, the face plate rotated about a non-vertical axis to provide a uniform coating 6, and an excess of suspension 7 allowed to accumulate at the picture surface edge 2, the rotational speed being increased so that the suspension layer is dried uniformly and the excess suspension deposited in flexible receivers 4 preferably of synthetic plastic, held against the edge of and at each corner of the face plate.
