A personal weighing machine comprises a base portion, a weighing mechanism provided with a weight-indicating scale, and a casing supported by the weighing mechanism, the casing being provided with a carrying handle, a wall portion and a platform and being formed from a single piece of thermoplastic material. The weighing mechanism which is mounted on the base portion and comprises levers and springs may also be of thermoplastic material. Polyolefines such as polyethylene, polypropylene and copolymers of ethylene and propylene are suitable as thermoplastic material for the casing, and, besides polyolefines for the weighing mechanism, polyacetal resins may be used. Other suitable thermoplastic materials are impact resistant polystyrene and impact resistant polyvinyl chloride examples of which are described.
