Abstract

1,120,518. Pulse generating circuits. INTERNATIONAL BUSINESS MACHINES CORP. 15 Aug., 1966 [1 Sept., 1965], No. 36406/66. Heading H3T. A high voltage pulse generator for an electrostatic printer comprises a single shot multivibrator 40, Fig. 1, which acts through a drive circuit 20 to pass current through one half of the primary winding of a transformer 10 to pre-set the flux in one direction, and a second single shot multivibrator 50 which operates after the first one to reverse the flux in the transformer thereby producing an output pulse in the secondary winding 12 connected to the load 60. A second secondary winding 13 is connected to a diode 14 and energy-dissipating resistance 15 which absorbs the energy of the pre-setting flux and of the collapsing flux after the output pulse. Drive circuit, Fig. 2. A pulse from a single shot multi-vibrator 40 is inverted in unit 21 and used to switch off a normally conducting NPN transistor 22. This causes PNP transistors 23 and 24 to conduct, the latter being in series with the half 11 of the primary winding of transformer 10. At the end of the input pulse the three transistors switch to their opposite states.
