Abstract

1,119,576. Endless conveyers. TRANSPORTA CHRUDIM, OBOROVY PODNIK. 16 Aug., 1966 [16 Aug., 1965], No. 36552/66. Heading B8A. An endless belt conveyer 1 is driven by and supported from a pair of spaced parallel endless ropes 2, 21 by means of a plurality of transverse cross members each formed of a base bar 25, a pair of intermediate bars 26 and a pair of side bars 24 slidably connected together to form a trough shaped support along the runs of the conveyer and to become rectilinear on passing around the end pulleys 16. 17 of the conveyer. The base bar 25 has a pair of inner and outer slots 33, 32 wherein the respective ends of the intermediate and side bars are slidably mounted. The other end of the intermediate bar 26 is pivotally mounted to the side bar 24, the other end of which mounts a hook 23 to engage the ropes 2, 2<SP>1</SP>. In an alternative embodiment, Fig. 6 not shown, the intermediate bar 26 has a U-shaped cross-section the open face of which rests on the base and side bars to slide therealong until abutting against stops (241), (251). The slots 32, 33 and the stops (241), (251) limit the movement of the side bars 24 relative to the base bar 25 in the forming of the trough whereby to substantially prevent the cross members and the belt 1 imposing a lateral component of force on the elongate drive means in a plane normal to the direction of the gravitational force on the cross-members. The crossmembers are'disengaged from the ropes 2, 2<SP>1</SP> at the end pulleys by means of auxiliary endless belts 18, 20 running adjacent each side between the respective end pulley and a smaller diameter pulley 19, 21 to run on a convergent path with the conveyer belt 1 and engage the base bar 25 and close up the cross member. The ropes 2, 2<SP>1</SP> are guided along the length of the conveyer by pulleys 3, 4, 5, 6 mounted on a framework 36 wherein on one side the pulleys are suspended from hooks 37 on the framework to permit movement relative to the framework. On the the return run of the conveyer belt the crossmembers may be suspended by means similar to the support run of the conveyer wherein the belt may be allowed to hang below the crossmembers or be supported by a plurality of inclined rollers 30. Alternatively (Fig. 4, not shown) the ropes may be underneath the inverted conveyer belt and are supported on a single central roller (7).
