Abstract

1,119,556. Electric correspondence control systems. NORTH AMERICAN AVIATION, Inc. Sept. 20, 1965 [Sept. 28, 1964], No.40032/65. Heading G1N. [Also in Division G3] In an open loop control system Fig. 1, an input signal at 10 is fed through three parallel channels 12,13,14 to energize a motor 16 driving an output member 11 whose displacement is measured by three separate pick-offs 18,19,20 each connected in negative feed back relation to one of the channels 12,13,14, whereby the system continues to operate satisfactorily even when one or two of the channels become faulty. As described, the motor 16 is hydraulic and the input and pick-off signals are electrical, combined at amplifier 21, to control electro-hydraulic valves 15, whose flow outputs are combined at 17 to drive motor 16. The pickoffs 18,19,20 are differential transformers. Mechanical details of the valves, manifolds and motor are given.
