Abstract
1,118,202. Centrifugal liquid-liquid extraction. VITAMINS Ltd. 29 Sept.. 1965 [12 Nov.. 1964], No. 46173/64. Addition to 998646. Heading B1F. A liquid-liquid extraction apparatus comprises at least one annular cell arranged to rotate about a vertical axis, the lower part of the cell being constructed to contain the liquid charge when at rest, and scoop means which can move horizontally into said cell to remove a liquid layer formed centrifugally therein. As illustrated in Fig. 1, a plurality of adjacent cells each comprise a rim 14 retaining the liquids at rest, and the scoop means comprise cranked pipes 19, 20 which serve also to transfer the inner layer 22 by gravity to the next lower compartment. The pipes are mounted on a rotatable rod 15 set eccentrically. In Fig. 2 (not shown) the lower portion is inclined and the rim omitted.
