Abstract

Mica paper impregnated with dilute phosphoric acid is hot pressed at 200-400 DEG C. and fired at 400-500 DEG C. The acid may be added to mica pulp prior to formation of the paper, or may be applied to preformed paper by spraying or brushing. The concn. of the acid may be 20-25% by wt. Hot pressing may be effected under 20-300 lb./in.2 pressure. Several sheets can be pressed together and are thereby bonded. Firing may be effected with or without pressure. Insoluble phosphates are said to form. The paper my be 0.0018 to 0.005 ins. thick.ALSO:Mica paper impregnated with dilute phosphoric acid is hot pressed at 200-400 DEG C and fired at 400-500 DEG C. The acid may be added to mica pulp prior to formation of the paper, or may be applied to preformed paper by spraying or brushing. The concentration of the acid may be 20-25% by wt. Hot pressing may be effected under 20-300 lb/in2 pressure. Several sheets can be pressed together and are thereby bonded. Fixing may be effected with or without pressure. Insoluble phosphates are said to form. The paper may be .0018 to .005 ins. thick.
