Abstract

1,118,168. Covering boxes. CALEDEX MACHINE CO. Ltd. 25 Oct., 1965 [29 Oct., 1964], No. 44078/64. Heading B5D. In a box wrapping machine of the type disclosed in Specification 1,018,415, which is referred to, each wrapper margin control assembly comprises a slidable carrier for alternatively mounting a brush roller, Figs. 3 and 4 (not shown) for casket boxes, or a flange-wrapping roller, Figs. 10-13 (not shown) for extension edge or flanged boxes, means for reciprocating the slidable carrier and roller towards and away from the box including spring means for effecting the advance towards the box, and stop means to prevent retraction of the carrier and flangewrapping roller from an advanced position during a predetermined part of the wrapping operation. The slidable carrier 2, Figs. 1 and 2 is retracted by cam means against the pressure of springs 32, 33. The flange wrapping roller 50 has a cut-away portion 51 which is engaged by the box flange AP and therefore has a tendency to be forced back against the springs 32, 33. To prevent this, a cam follower 44 (Fig. 2) is caused to engage behind a limit stop 42 on the slide so that during the flange wrapping step movement of the slide against the springs 32, 33 is not possible.
