Abstract
An aqueous fluid having dispersed therein a mixture of finely divided particles of an oil soluble resin and a water soluble gum which is a natural gum, a cellulose derivative or a polymer which is polyacrylamide, salts of polyacrylic acid, polyethylene glycol, methyl vinyl ethermaleic anhydride copolymer or a urethane-polyethylene glycol copolymer is used to treat an earthen formation adjacent an oil well. The fluid may comprise hydrochloric acid, a styrene-(or a -methyl styrene) -vinyl toluene copolymer or a modified petroleum resin and karaya gum.
