1,117,811. Panelled building structures; building units. WILLIAM OLD (RESIFORM) Ltd. 5 April, 1966 [5 Jan., 1965], No. 468/65. Headings E1B and E1W. [Also in Division B5] A building is made of building units consisting of a layer of synthetic resin reinforced with glass fibres and a layer of fire-resistant material backed by metal frame elements secured thereto. Fig. 2 shows a panel comprising a glass mat reinforced polyester resin 2 containing coloured filler, aggregate and sand, a perforated asbestos panel 3, a metal frame 4 made of 'L' and 'U'-section perforated steel sections and a facing 10 of heat-insulating material e.g. mineral wool or glass-fibre quilting. Timber studding 11 which is held in place at floor and ceiling levels and plaster board sheet 12 nailed to the studding being applied on site (as may the facing 10). In making a unit, the perforated asbestos board with framing 4 attached by stud and nut fastenings 5 is partially embedded in the web resin lay up, the metallic frame removed, a layer of resin and a glass fibre mat applied to the board and the framing replaced. The panels are connected together in assembling the building by nuts 6 and bolts 7 inserted through adjoining parts of the metal frames, the adjoining parts 4(a) being separated by a steel pad 8 and the joints sealed by sealing, grouting or jointing material 9.
