Abstract
1,116,976. Fluidised bed reactor. VICKERS-ZIMMER A.G. PLANUNG UND BAU VON INDUSTRIEAN-LAGEN. 22 June, 1965 [23 June, 1964], No. 26364/65. Heading B1F. [Also in Division F4] Particles of solid materials, for example fragments of plastics material are fluidised in reactor tube 1 by a gas stream introduced through chamber 3, and rotary insert members R arranged axially along the tube operate to reduce the range of sojourn times of the material in the bed. The number of nozzle holes per unit area in the gas entry plate 2 decreases from the centre outwardly. In the embodiment of Fig. 2 (not shown) the upper frustoconical parts 15 of rotary members R are omitted and annular diversion plates (19) provided on the inner wall of the reaction tube. The reaction tube may widen upwardly (Fig. 3 not shown).
