Abstract
Catalyst-containing tubes are arranged in a vessel for reforming hydrocarbons in a cruciform pattern as described in Specification 1,016,230, or in zig-zag pattern as described in Specification 1,055,223, but the two burners per quadrant in each group are located with their axes parallel to the axes of the tubes. Additional burners may be located in each quadrant in the central plane thereof.
