Abstract

1,116,114. Automatic exchange systems; transistor switching circuits. INTERNATIONAL STANDARD ELECTRIC CORPORATION. 29 July, 1966 [2 Aug., 1965], No. 34202/66. Headings H3T and H4K. A crosspoint switch for a telephone switching network comprises a transistor which is biased " on " by means of a high-frequency current supplied via a transformer. In order to prevent interference from the biasing current, a suitable filter C1, C2 is provided. Selection of a particular crosspoint is effected by opening switch S which normally short-circuits one winding of the transformer. Each crosspoint may have two transformer windings associated therewith such that coincidence of current in both is necessary for crosspoint operation. Fig. 2 (not shown) depicts a " full-wave " circuit comprising two opposite type transistors and two oppositely polarized diodes which are arranged as a parallel combination in series with the line. Fig. 3 (not shown) depicts a rudimentary TDM system in which two lines are connected during opposite peaks of the bias current to a common line. Fig. 4 (not shown) relates to the selective connection of two subscribers to a common line i.e. a form of party line system but none of the usual details concerning the operation of such a system are disclosed.
