Abstract

1,115,818. Core constructions. ALLMANNA SVENSKA ELEKTRISKA A.B. 6 Oct., 1965 [7 Oct., 1964], No. 42377/65. Heading H2A. [Also in Divisions B3 and F2] The stator frame of an electrical machine consists of longitudinally extending stay tubes 6 and stay rods 8 welded to end plates 5 with annular discs 12 spaced apart axially along the length of the machine also welded to the stay tubes and rods. Segmental laminµ 1 having winding slots 13 and substantially straight outer edges are assembled in staggered relationship in the frame and aligned by a fixture co-operating with the winding slots to produce a polygonal core with apices 3, 4. The core is then compressed and secured in the compressed state by welding press rings at each end of the core to respective ends of the frame and moving axially extending fastening bars 9 radially inwards against the core by means of screws 11 in stay rods 8. The shaft mounted rotor is then introduced into the stator core and the height of the bearings adjusted by means of screws to give the required alignment. For this purpose the bearings are mounted on plates which are movable relative to a foundation member, Fig. 1a (not shown), and can be fixed in the desired position. In an alternative construction the end plates and press rings may be integral and mounted to be axially movable on the stay tubes and rods so that they can be welded in position after the core is compressed. In this construction wedges are driven between the fastening bars and the annular discs to secure the core, Figs. 4 and 5 (not shown). In further modifications the fastening bars 9 may be grooved to press against the apices of the core, or flat to press against a flat surface of the core and it is stated that the core may be sprayed with plastics material to increase its rigidity.
