Abstract

1,113,306. Transistor bi-stable circuits. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. 25 March, 1966, No. 13284/66. Heading H3T. When a bi-stable circuit comprising a complementary pair of transistors T1, T2 is used to feed pulses to a line, a choke L1 partially isolates the circuit from the linewhile the circuit is being switched between states. As described, transistors T1, T2 are normally non-conductive until a negative pulse is received at one of the inputs 1-n when both transistors become conductive. After a short delay due to build-up of current in choke L1, a pulse is initiated in the twisted-pair output line. The pulse is terminated by a positive pulse fed to diode D2 or a negative-going pulse (from + 6 v. to -6 v.) fed to diode D3. Diode D5 isolates the load from the bi-stable circuit during the turn-off period; diode D4 prevents current via D5 to the base of T1 during the off state whilst diodes D6, D7, D8 limit the rise in voltage at their respective connections.
