[Also in Division G1] A capacitance unit for use in a measuring system (see Division G1) comprises a nylon core 111 carrying a number of annular electrode plates 112 . . . 115. In order to minimize the effects of stray capacitance the outer peripheral edges of the plates are at different distances from the core, and the inner edges are spaced from the core by distances which increase as the distance between the core and the outer edges decreases. Thus as shown, each plate forms a shield between the plates on opposite sides of it.
