Abstract
1,112,305. Electromagnetic forming. SIEMENS SCHUCKERTWERKE A.G. 6 July, 1965 [8 July, 1964], No. 28681/65. Heading B3Q. An electromagnetic forming apparatus comprises a field concentrator between the forming coil and the work. The concentrator may comprise a number of copper-beryllium rings 11, Fig. 1, separated by epoxy resin insulation 13 and formed with recesses 18 for the insulated coil 12. Connectors 15 for the coil are separated by insulating material 19, and the rings 11 have slots 16, Fig. 1b. A workpiece may be formed in two or more successive operations, a first operation forming the work against a die 26, Fig. 2. The die is changed and an additional concentrator (37) used, Fig. 3 (not shown), for the second operation. In a further form, Fig. 4 (not shown), the coil (43) is mounted on a core (44) of epoxy resin, and the concentrator has a slot (46). Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 896,923.
