Abstract

1,111,996. Simulated golf. J. R. BELL. 8 June. 1966 [8 June, 1965], No. 24161/65. Heading A6D. An apparatus for playing a simulated game of golf comprises photocells 8, Fig. 1, to signal the departure of a ball from a tee 6 and initiate thecharging of a capacitor from a direct current source, a switch 10 to signal the impact of the ball upon screen 3, to terminate the charging of the condenser and to initiate the operation of a projector projecting on the screen images of a view along a golf course from progressively displaced positions thereon, means for producing a varying voltage representing the operation of the projector comprising a potentiometer connected across a direct current source, the slider of the potentiometer being arranged to move in synchronism with the operation of said projector and means responsive to the attainment of a predetermined relation between the voltage to which the capacitor is charged and said varying voltage to arrest the operation of the projector. Side extensions to the screen fitted with switches are provided to signal shots too far to the left or right and a trigger circuit is provided to prevent operation of the switches due to disturbance of the screen when the ball is not in flight.
