Abstract
1,111,407. Evaporators, film-type. GOSUD ARSTVENNY NAUCHNO - ISSLEDOVAT ELSKY I PROEKTNY INSTITUT AZOTNOI PROMYSHLENNOSTI I PRODUKTO V ORGANICHESKOGO SINTEZA. 17 Feb., 1967. No. 7703/67. Heading B1B. Liquid is evaporated in the form of a downflowinig film on the heated internal surface of a vertical body 1 within which is mounted a shaft 2 supporting rotatable hollow drums 9 the walls of which have longitudinal projections with holes 14 from which the liquid-to-be-evaporated is distributed from inside the rotating drums onto the internal surface of the body 1. The middle part of the evaporator shown has three sections 6 each having an external heating jacket and a liquid-distributing drum 9. The drums are fastened to shaft 2 by rings 11 and 12. The feed liquid is introduced into the evaporator through pipe 50 and is thrown, by centrifugal force from radial tubes of a sleeve attached to rotating shaft 2, onto the internal surface of a stationary cylinder, the lower edge of which has teeth for distributing the liquid onto the upper ring 11 of the uppermost drum 9. The liquid is then thrown by centrifugal force onto the internal corrugated surface of the drum and is distributed by the projections into individual vertical streams, the liquid then being thrown through holes 14 onto the heated internal surface of the uppermost section 6 of the evaporator, where the liquid forms a downflowing film from which partial evaporation takes place. The non-evaporated liquid flows into a collector, between the two upper sections 6, whence the liquid flows along chutes 29 onto the internal surface of the drum 9 of the second section 6, where the process of liquid-distribution and partial evaporation is repeated. The same applies in the lowest section 6. Residual liquid is discharged from the evaporator through pipe 51. The vapours ascend through the gaps between the body 1 and the drums 9 as well as through the drums into which the vapours penetrate through holes 35 in the hollows of the corrugations. The vapours reaching the top of the evaporator pass through a droplet-separator, and are discharged through pipe 52.
