Abstract

1,111,262. Pads for corns &c. SCHOLL MFG. CO. Ltd. 30 April, 1965 [1 May, 1964], No. 18338/65. Heading A5R. A surgical pad for corns &c. comprises a cushion body having an affliction-receiving recess or aperture therein, there being an element carrying a waxy substance disposed in the recess or aperture, and means being provided to secure the cushion body to a patient with the recess or aperture overlying the affliction. As shown, the pad comprises cushioning layers 4, 6 of exemplified natural or synthetic materials united with adhesive 7, the layer 4 having a central aperture filled with a pad 8 of a wax substance reinforced with fabric 9. The pad is attached to a patient's foot with adhesive 10 having a temporary covering layer 11. In alternative embodiments, the pad may comprise layers of material arranged so that the pad is thicker at one end than the other (Figures 5 and 6, not shown), the pad may be provided with securing tabs covered with adhesive (Figures 9 and 10, not shown), or the pad may be shaped to fit over a protruding affliction (Figures 11 to 15, not shown). Various suitable wax substances are exemplified, e.g. paraffin or stearine, and the substance may include various medicaments. A pad of medicament such as salicylic acid may be fitted into the surgical pad above the waximpregnated pad 8.
