Abstract
A novel compound having the formula <FORM:1110664/C2/1> wherein X is oxygen or sulphur; Y is hydrogen, alkyl containing 1-18 carbon atoms, alkenyl containing 3-18 carbon atoms, alkoxyalkyl containing 3-17 carbon atoms, alkylthioalkyl containing 3-17 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl containing 3-8 carbon atoms, di (lower alkyl) aminoalkyl containing 4-10 carbon atoms, morpholinoalkyl containing 6-10 carbon atoms, or piperidinoalkyl containing 7-11 carbon atoms; and Y1 is alkyl containing 8-18 carbon atoms when Y is hydrogen and containing 3-18 carbon atoms when Y is other than hydrogen, alkenyl containing 3-18 carbon atoms, alkoxyalkyl containing 3-17 carbon atoms, alkylthioalkyl containing 3-17 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl containing 3-8 carbon atoms, di (lower alkyl)-aminoalkyl containing 4-10 carbon atoms, morpholinoalkyl containing 6-10 carbon atoms, or piperidinoalkyl containing 7-11 carbon atoms or an acid addition salt thereof, is obtained by reacting a 1-(Y)-guanidine having the structural formula <FORM:1110664/C2/2> with approximately one molecular equivalent of an isocyanate or isothiocyanate having the structural formula Y1-NCH and if desired obtaining an acid addition salt of the basic compound obtained.ALSO:A disinfecting and sanitising agent or a pharmaceutical composition comprises a compound having the formula: <FORM:1110664/A5-A6/1> wherein X is O or S; Y is H, alkyl containing 1-18 carbon atoms, alkenyl containing 3-18 carbon atoms, alkoxyalkyl containing 3-17 carbon atoms, alkylthioalkyl containing 3-17 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl containing 3-8 carbon atoms, di (lower alkyl) aminoalkyl containing 4-10 carbon atoms, morpholinoalkyl containing 6-10 carbon atoms, piperidinoalkyl containing 7-11 carbon atoms; and Y\sv is alkyl containing 8-18 carbon atoms when Y is H, and containing 3-18 carbon atoms when Y is other than H, alkenyl containing 3-18 carbon atoms, alkoxyalkyl containing 3-17 carbon atoms, alkylthioalkyl containing 3-17 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl containing 3-8 carbon atoms, di (lower alkyl)-aminoalkyl containing 4-10 carbon atoms, morpholinoalkyl containing 6-10 carbon atoms or piperidinoalkyl containing 7-11 carbon atoms or an acid addition salt thereof and an inert carrier. The antibacterial and antifungicidal activities may be employed in the treatment of plants and in paper-making, or the pharmaceutical compositions may be applied to living surfaces by swabbing, padding, spraying, immersing and rinsing.
