Insects, destroying.-Relates to devices for killing insects or for cooling the air, of the kind in which a sheet of absorbent material is kept moist by means of liquid from a reservoir at the upper end thereof, and consists in providing a reservoir at each end of the material, the lower reservoir being adapted to receive the drips, and the device being adapted to be turned either way up, so that the functions of the reservoirs may be reversed. The device is shown in various forms; to be hung in a room, or from the back of a helmet; in a frame for use in the open; arranged around a meat safe or as a meat safe, or forming the sides of a tent. As shown in Fig. 1, the ends of the material are secured round rods d arranged to fit grooves or channels b in the reservoirs a, a<1>. Each reservoir is provided with a filling orifice and air inlet a<2>, and an air outlet a', adapted to be closed by screw caps a<3>, a<5> respectively. The liquid flows out of or into the reservoirs through perforations b<1> at the base of each channel. The device shown in Fig. 1 is adapted to be suspended by a cord e<1> at either end. In a modification for use in the open, the device is supported on side bars pivoted in a frame and provided with a crank by which it can be turned either way up. It may be enclosed in barbed wire to prevent animals licking the material. A pair of sheets each provided with upper and lower reservoirs may be utilized as the sides of a tent, the upper reservoirs being clamped to cross pieces on tent posts, and hooks provided so that the lower reservoirs may be attached to tent pegs. The device may be cylindrical in shape as shown in Fig. 6, in which the material c forms the wall of a meat safe. In this form, the upper reservoir is hooked to a main tank l containing the liquid which enters the reservoir through openings l<2>. A flap or door m<2> may be hinged to an eye m on either reservoir, and cords n<1> are provided for raising the device when hanging meat from the hooks o. In a further modification, the reservoirs are semicircular in form and are adapted to be hooked on to an ordinary cylindrical meat safe so as to enclose same.
