Abstract

1,109,404. Air filter. D. A. G. MARSHALL. 3 March, 1967 [6 Dec., 1965], No. 51638/65. Heading BIT. A filter comprises a pair of filter pads or elements which are adapted to be joined edge to edge in a removable manner, at least one of the co-operating edges 14 being provided with a surface comprising a multiplicity of hooks 22 which fasten on to the opposed surface 16 of the other co-operating edge when the edges are brought into contact with each other but which can be separated from that opposed' surface substantially without damage to the elements and without the use of an excessive pulling force on the two elements. The opposing surfaces may comprise strips of "Velcro" (Trade Mark). The hooks 22 may be regularly spaced and made of filaments of nylon, and the co-operating edge may have highly curled nylon. fibres 24 resembling the fibres of fuzzy wool. The pads may comprise one or more thicknesses of open-pore polyurethane foam, with a metal reinforcing frame. The pads may be held in channel members (30, 32) extending along the inside surfaces of a duct (26) (Fig. 6 not shown).
