Abstract

A composition for minimizing the accumulation of charges of static electricity on a synthetic textile comprises a mixture of (a) a polyepoxide and (b) a polyamine of formula <FORM:1109300/C3/1> in which n is an integer from 2 to 40, #c is Cl or NH CH3, r is an integer from 30 to 100 and q an integer from 4 to 14. The composition may also contain a third ingredient which may be either an aliphatic ester of a fatty acid or a compound containing at least one uninterrupted hydrocarbon chain of at least 10 carbon atoms and at least one N atom capable of reaction with the polyepoxide. The composition may additionally comprise a substituted carbamyl compound: <FORM:1109300/C3/2> in which R1 and R6 represent substituted or unsubstituted hydrocarbon radicals of at least 6 carbon atoms; R2, R3, R4 and R5 are selected from H, C1-4 alkyl radicals and hydroxy alkyl radicals. D1 and D2 are selected from O, S and imido. A is a divalent radical <FORM:1109300/C3/3> where Q is H or C1-4 alkyl or alkylol radicals or O or S. f and j are integers from 1 to 6, g is 0 or an integer from 1 to 3, e and k are integers from 1 to 6, and m and t are integers from 1 to 6. The carbamyl compound contains at least one chain of 10 carbon atoms and any of the CH2 groups indicated in the formula may be substituted by alkyl or hydroxyl groups. An example is: <FORM:1109300/C3/4> The compositions may also contain an alkyl substitute imidazoline derivative: <FORM:1109300/C3/5> The composition may contain a mixture of mono-, di-, and triglycerides of formula <FORM:1109300/C3/6> M is either a hydrogen atom or a fatty acid residue -CO-R, where R is a C13-C21 alkyl radical. The compositions may be applied to textiles and fibres, e.g. of polyester, polyamide, polyacrylonitrile or a copolymer of acrylonitrile and vinyl acetate. The compositions may be cured by amine epoxy resin curing catalysts, e.g. alkylamines.ALSO:A composition for minimising the accumulation of charges of static electricity on a synthetic textile comprises a mixture of (a) a polyepoxide and (b) a polyamine of formula: <FORM:1109300/D1-D2/1> in which n is an integer from 2 to 40, x is Cl or NH CH3, r is an integer from 30 to 100 and a an integer from 4 to 14.
