Abstract
1,108,271. Tools for setting out work. T. DIXON. 8 March. 1967 [21 Jan., 1966], No. 2822/66. Heading B4X. An instrument for marking off a line of cut on a pipe comprises a supporting member having two flanges 10, 11 which can be placed on a pipe to straddle and extend axially thereof, a flat table 12 integral with or secured to the supporting member and occupying a plane at right angles to a plane passing centrally through the support, a bracket 15 rotatably mounted on the table and having a semicircular edge graduated in angles from 0 to 180 degrees, and also having a right angle upright 19 at its edge remote from the semicircular edge and an articulated arm formed of pivotally interconnected rigid links, one 20 of the end links being connected to the upright 19 to swing in a path parallel thereto and the other end link 22 carrying at its extremity a marking tool 23, the arm being flexible only in a plane parallel to that of the upright 19. The bracket 15 can be pivotally mounted in the hole 28 in the flange 11 and the instrument supported on a girder (Fig. 10, not shown), the marker being moved over the surface of the beam to mark off a line of cut.
