Abstract
1,108,198. Tape recorders. T. SOTANI. 29 June, 1966 [29 June, 1965], No. 29309/66. Heading G5R. [Also in Division G2] In a cine film or recording tape magazine, the supply and take-up spool cores 11, 14 are slidably mounted in an arcuate slot 9 in the planar base wall of the magazine whereby the cores move in the slots due to the studs 20, 21 bearing on the spool peripheries as the spool diameters change, cores 11, 14 being urged towards each other by an elastic band (23), as in Fig. 3 (not shown), passing round their bases (12, 15) which are trapped within the chamber (22) formed by hollow projection (5). The film 10 leaves slit 7 and returns through slit 8. Core bases (12, 15) enter chamber (22) through enlarged opening 9<SP>1</SP>, Fig. 2, in slot 9, and their undersides have apertures (13, 16), Fig. 3, which are engaged through a slit (10) in base (6) by driving spindles. Driving mechanism.-Supply and take-up spindles (45, 46), Fig. 6 (not shown), slide in a slot (42) in the mechanism housing aligned with slots 9 and 10. On spindle (45) is freely mounted a pulley (47) which is pressed upwardly by a spring to bear against a friction ring on the underside of a disc (48) fixed on spindle (45), thereby forming a friction clutch. A similar clutch system is carried on spindle (46), comprising pulley (51) and disc (52). Pulleys (47), (51) are driven through elastic belts (55), (56) by pulleys (30) and (28) on a spindle at the centre of the arc of slot 42 and driven further belt (57) over pulley (27) and a small pulley (35) fixed to spindle (31). Forward film feed is provided by moving idle wheel (38) on pivoting arm (40) to contact motor shaft (37) and a large friction wheel (34) on shaft (31), the spindles and cores moving along their slots as the spool diameters change. Rewind is initiated by contacting shaft (37) and friction wheel (29). In another form, the arcuate slots have less curvature and drive belts are tensioned by spring-loaded rollers.
