A tarpaulin support for an open topped vehicle body comprises transverse hoop sticks arranged to run along tracks secured to the upper edges of the body. The tracks are provided with racks engaged by sprockets carried by the end hoop stick so that rotation of the sprockets by a hand-operated belt over a pulley connected to the sprockets will cause extension of the supports.
